Support the bike hub

Support our work -- Donate HERE!

Our Bike Hub is Your Bike Hub!

Thank you for your previous support of Our Bike Hub. Your generosity affords us the opportunity to continue our work in support of a vibrant and inclusive cycling community in and around Bennington, VT.

For the second year in a row, the retail shop is financially self sustaining and is not part of this fundraising effort. Our third year as an organization has seen tremendous growth of our efforts to lower the barriers to cycling in our community. We could not have done it without you, and now we are asking for your support for our 2025 Annual Appeal. To donate online, click here. To mail a donation, please send it to Bike Hub, Inc., PO Box 1436, Bennington, VT 05201.

As a social enterprise that applies commercial strategies to achieve our mission, unlike a traditional business focused solely on profit maximization, the Bike Hub balances supporting a community of cyclists with retail and shop services while prioritizing making cycling safe and accessible for all through our education and outreach efforts. This mutually beneficial balance is the hallmark of our organization, and partially supports or efforts to:

  • Give away 101 bikes to date this year through our Bikes For All and Learn and Earn programs, well on our way to achieving our goal of up-cycling and returning 125 bikes to our community at no cost to recipients for 2025*.
  • Give away 69 helmets, 62 locks, and 51 pairs of lights (to ensure visibility for safety) to date this year**.
  • Contribute to many local events this year with: free mechanical support; bicycle maintenance & riding skill educational outreach; Bike Valet Parking to promote cycling as transportation to local events; general participation; and rider participation. Select events we have participated in this year include: Battenkill 2025; Bennington Area Trail System (BATS) Trail Mix; Trail Fest; ACES Summer Camp Weekly Bike Skills Rodeo; Cambridge MUD U; Summer Jam; Bennington Skate Park Events; Food Truck Fest; Pride Parade; May Fest; Trunk or Treat; and Bi-Weekly Indoor Riding Skills Rodeos throughout the winter at the Bennington Rec Center.
  • Provide regular riding opportunities open to all such as: Weekly Tuesday Night Shop Rides (two different mileage groups to meet the varied needs of local cyclists); Women’s Only Rides; Weekend Ride Arounds; 250th Ethan Allen Ticonderoga Anniversary Ride; Pride Parade Ride; Battle Day Parade Ride; Kidical Mass Ride; Slate Valley Mountain Biking Group Outing; and our inaugural gravel ride — which we hope to grow into a signature, yearly event.
  • Offer our extremely popular Open Shop Night every Thursday from 6 - 8pm, while expanding Open Shop to remote locations such as Bennington College, utilizing the new Bike Hub Van; and providing bike repair skills clinics at local libraries.
  • Offer free gear trials through our Winter Gear Lending Library; and free e-bike trials through our new E-Bike Lending Library.

While the bike shop partially supports our outreach and eduction programs, we primarily rely on funding from generous donors like you to deliver diverse programming designed to lower the barriers to cycling — we would simply not be able to offer the level of support we are currently providing to our vibrant cycling community without your help!

As we kick off our end of year fundraising efforts, we ask you to please make a generous tax-deductible donation to Our Bike Hub. You can do this online by clicking here or by mailing a check to: Bike Hub, Inc., PO Box 1436, Bennington, VT 05201.

Thank you for your generous support.

The Bike Hub has purchased the assets of the former Highlander Bicycle Shop in Bennington and is open as a full service bike store and shop. On Thursday evenings,  staff and tools are offered for community members to bring in their bikes to learn about its maintenance.  We are providing community-focused educational events and programs about cycling, safety, bike maintenance, and repair for the whole community. We have provided many reconditioned bicycles as well as helmets, locks and lights to members of our community.  Our hope is to help transform Bennington into community. where cycling is celebrated as a healthy, functional and environmentally responsible form of transportation and recreation.

The Bike Hub welcomes donations of time, expertise, and money. If you have interest in supporting the Bike Hub, please be in touch.
